Murph Devane

Murph grew up playing football and then rugby for Whitefish Bay High School. It wasn't until before his senior season of rugby that he began looking into weight training and other methods to get a leg up. After two years of largely inefficient and ineffective bodybuilding-type routines, he was directed to the Gym Jones and subsequently CrossFit websites through a friend. When he began regularly working out at CrossFit Milwaukee in January of 2009, he was in the middle of his first season of playing club ultimate frisbee for UW-Milwaukee's A-team. Through CrossFit, he saw various aspects of his athleticism improve quickly. Most notably strength, power, vertical, sprint speed, cardio-vascular endurance, and agility. When not working out, Murph enjoys being outdoors doing anything from camping to tossing a disc or football on the beach. Currently, he is a senior finance major at UWM and is working towards getting back into competitive rugby. He received his CrossFit Level 1 certification in June of 2010 and is looking forward to helping everyone achieve their fitness goals through coaching and joining in the workout!
