Calling All CrossFit Gyms,

CrossFit MadTown of Middleton, WI is hosting a CrossFit Decathlon to
find the fittest and best athlete of the Upper-Mid West. We have a one
of a kind CrossFit facility to host this competition and if you are
curious to see the facility check it out at www.hitterssports.com . This
will be a 10 event 2 day completion with scoring by place in each event
making each event equal in scoring. The event is set for February 20 and
21st, 2010 running all day each day. Attached are the event list and
also the flyer. Because of logistics for this first year of competition
we have to limit the competition to the first 50 who sign up. So sign up
quickly to ensure your chance to show your best. If you have any
questions please feel free to contact Keysha or Skipp at the following:

"I don't have the flyer available yet but I do hope to have it up and posted by Thanksgiving. I was waiting until I had everything done to
give you the event list but since I am not at that point yet I thought I would get the event list out to so your people could get a feel of what the weekend is going to be like. Keysha and I decided on a decathlon of events because we feel that it is a good way to find out who is not only the best athlete but at the same time the best conditioned and trained athlete. As it is in Track and Field many times there are athletes on the track who could do the best in the decathlon of events if they were spread over a week but have no chance at completing them in a 2 day event.  We feel this is going to be a tuff 2 days of competing but at the same time a fun set up of events that will challenge athletes in the realms of power (snatch/shot put/60yard) Anerobic energy pathway (1000 meter run) Aerobic energy pathway (5K row) Core endurance (power wheel crawl) max strength (deadlift/press) Strength endurance (max rep pull ups) and of course the good old CrossFit MetCons!!! Hope these look good to you as we are excited for this event and we truly feel we have a good set of events put together to find the fittest best athlete in the Upper Mid West!"

I recently got this email from Skipp Benzig who, with his wife Keysha, opened up Madison's first CrossFit affiliate earlier this year. Not only are they affiliate owners, but they are kick ass O-lift coaches as well. I thought we could get a group of Milwaukee area CrossFitters to make a good showing for the event that Skipp is proposing. What do you say, people? Who's up for a road trip?

Here's the email:

"Hey, I hope all is well for you over there in Milwaukee! Things are going well here. I had a quick question on what your thoughts are on this but Keysha and I are in the finishing plans of presenting to the owner of this building a CrossFit competition for Feb. 20-21 that will be a CrossFit Decathlon. I did not know if you thought there might be an interest from any of your members in this type of competition or not but we are trying to invite people from the upper mid west to see who is the fittest CrossFitter in the area. We thought this would be good because we actually have a facility that we can run in easily and have plenty of room to do this inside when it is going to be cold outside and most of us do not have an opportunity to get a run in and to do a lot of events that typically need to be done outdoors. Also the timing is a t a good time of the year to get a another chance to compete and then get back on to training for the CrossFit games regional qualifier. We are just trying to get a feel of the interest in the area so we are contacting a bunch of the CrossFit’s before we actually go through with this. Thanks for any of your thoughts!"
